Associate/Full Professor of Sport Management

The Department of Kinesiology and Health, within the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) of Rutgers University, invites applications for an academic-year, tenure-track associate/full professor in the area of Sport Management with a focus on Administration/Management. Applicants in all disciplines related to administration and management of large sport organizations will be considered. The department’s focus is on issues related to national and international sport programs, especially at the corporate level with particular interest in women’s issues.

The successful candidate will maintain a dynamic research program; seek external funding in their area of specialization; teach undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of sport management, and kinesiology; and mentor and train graduate students. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience in applied settings. An established track record of external funding is expected.

Candidate should have a PhD in Sport Management or a field related to the business and/or administration of sport. A qualified candidate should have the credentials and experience to teach courses such in management, facilities, budgeting and administration of large sport organizations such as National Federation of State High School Associations, NCAA, NAIA, National Governing Bodies, etc.  Significant experience in supervising internships and substantial professional contacts with the leadership in such organizations and in corporate business settings related to sport management is expected.

Required Experience: Applicants must have an established track record of external funding, a strong publications record in scholarly journals, the potential to make substantial contributions as an independent investigator, a record of service, including service to professional associations, and have a commitment to teaching undergraduate and graduate students. They should also be committed to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

The Department of Kinesiology and Health is highly interdisciplinary with ongoing collaborations with many of Rutgers' other programs (e.g., the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, the Rutgers School of Health Related Professions, The Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences), as well as productive relationships with Intercollegiate Athletics and the newly formed Institute for Food, Nutrition, and Health (http://ifnh.rutgers.edu).
