This laboratory examines the prevalence and motivations for risky health behaviors among student athletes, such as hiding concussion symptoms and using drugs and alcohol. The lab also is interested in improving understanding of risk for and recovery from sport-related concussion. Ongoing research uses student athlete data previously collected as part of two grants from two NJ Commission on Brain Injury Research (CBIR13IRG028 and CBIR14IRG020).

The goals of our ongoing studies are:

  • Enhancing the mental and physical well-being of student athletes
  • Understanding risk for and recovery from sport-related concussion
  • Identifying objective, physiological indicators of sport-related concussions
  • Investigating cognitive profiles of sport-related concussions
