Daphne Valencia
Daphne is a second-year Ph.D. student in the Rutgers Sleep Lab. She earned her master’s degree from NYU and previously worked as a clinical research coordinator at the Mount Sinai Integrative Sleep Research Center. Her prior work explored sleep-disordered breathing and sleep fragmentation, and their effects on neurodegeneration, cognition, and circadian rhythms. At Rutgers, Daphne is interested in the bidirectional relationships between features of sleep architecture and cognitive function, as well as long-term physiological health outcomes. In her free time, she enjoys long runs, concerts, and traveling!

t is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Rutgers Sleep Lab. She completed her Bachelors in Exercise Science at Rutgers, where she studied the mental health effects of injury in Division I athletes. Her research interests include women’s health, performance, and recovery. Outside of her studies, she loves music, working out, and finding new coffee shops!
